Dynamic and Gradual Mitigation of Attack Traffic Using P4 and SFC Coordination

(in English) We aim to establish a method for achieving energy-efficient networks by optimizing network design and control in large-scale backbone networks consisting of IP routers and optical transmission devices. To realize energy-efficient networks, it is crucial to be able to limit and alleviate the flow of large-volume traffic, such as DDoS attacks, through network control. Therefore, in this research, we propose a defense system that maintains the availability of legitimate communication by adaptively mitigating attack traffic by integrating P4 switches and SFC at the network ingress. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method, we conducted a simulation evaluation in a scenario where attack traffic and legitimate users coexist. The results showed that there is a trade-off relationship with delays and jitters to ensure the availability of legitimate users.
