Nucleus instance segmentation is essential in computational pathology but remains difficult due to dense nuclei and ambiguous boundaries. This work presents a practical framework that extends the HoVer-Net pipeline with a VMamba-based progressive refinement strategy to enhance local structure modeling and instance separation. A two-stage design further decouples segmentation and classification by applying a ConvNeXt-based classifier to cropped nucleus patches. Experiments on the PanNuke dataset demonstrate consistent improvements over the HoVer-Net baseline in instance-level metrics, including mPQ and bPQ. |
