LSTM based Dynamic Jitter Buffer Control Method for Real-time Application

(in English) In real-time communication, fluctuations in network delay (jitter) can cause glitches and increased latency. To absorb jitter, a jitter buffer is commonly used; however, buffer-induced delay and playback stability are in a trade-off relationship, so conventional fixed-size buffering makes it difficult to achieve both low latency and high stability. In this paper, we prototype a system that acquires delay information over UDP without requiring clock synchronization between terminals, predicts future delay variations using an LSTM, and dynamically updates the jitter-buffer size to mitigate this trade-off and improve overall performance.
