Rat dorsal microcirculation observation and activated clotting time measurement toward real-time monitoring of blood coagulation function

(in English) Blood coagulation testing is essential for monitoring coagulation function during catheterization and extracorporeal circulation. Given the pharmacological properties of the anticoagulants administered during these procedures, testing every few tens of minutes imposes significant clinical burdens and inability to monitor coagulability in real time. This study aims to establish a continuous monitoring method for blood coagulation capacity by analyzing microcirculatory dynamics. In this presentation, we report on the results of microcirculatory imaging of the dorsal region and the measurement of activated clotting time (ACT) in rat models administered with heparin sodium. Our results suggested that it exists a potential correlation between ACT and blood flow velocity and blood flow velocity will be able to become a key to estimate blood coagulability.
