Dynamic Updating of Network Digital Twin for Real-time Beamforming under Noisy CSI Measurement Conditions

(in English) In recent years, beamforming via Massive MIMO has become essential for ensuring communication quality in millimeter-wave (mmWave) communications, and capturing highly accurate Channel State Information (CSI) is indispensable for its control. Since CSI at a specific location does not fluctuate significantly over short periods and maintains a strong correlation with spatial coordinates, research has been conducted on beamforming techniques that utilize "CSI maps" recording both location and channel data. However, existing studies often rely on pre-constructed maps and do not account for the real-time responsiveness required to adapt to environmental changes. To address this, this study leverages highly mobile drones for sensing, aiming for real-time map updates within a Network Digital Twin.

To reduce map uncertainty within the limited operational time of drones, we propose an autonomous mobility control method based on Active Inference. Under the Free Energy Principle, Active Inference provides a unified framework for balancing the distinct values of information acquisition in unknown areas and the suppression of movement costs by minimizing Expected Free Energy. Evaluation results demonstrate that the proposed method efficiently improves CSI map accuracy while accounting for movement costs, enabling the construction of high-precision maps in a shorter timeframe compared to conventional methods.
