(in English) In Japan, rapid population aging has increased the prevalence of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), becoming a major social issue.
MCI causes memory impairment, particularly affecting episodic memory, which imposes psychological and time burdens on both individuals and caregivers.
Furthermore, due to the rise of nuclear families and weakened community ties, many older adults cannot receive sufficient support.
Under these circumstances, there is a growing need for systems that enable older adults with MCI to independently collect, store, and retrieve data that facilitate episodic memory recall.
To address this issue, previous studies proposed a memory support system called “Anotoki Camera,” which uses first-person visual data reflecting the user’s perspective.
However, this system still has practical issues in real-world operation.
In this study, we propose an improved Anotoki Camera by introducing task separation, asynchronous processing, and local processing.
Experimental evaluation suggests that browsing egocentric snapshot images presented by the system is effective in facilitating episodic memory recall.
