The relation between sense of control and subjective well-being during travel

(in English) This study investigates the impact of the Sense of Control on subjective well-being during travel and compares its magnitude with travel and personal factors. We conducted a questionnaire survey using Sense of Control as the independent variable, subjective well-being during travel measured by the Satisfaction with Travel Scale (STS) as the dependent variable, and travel and personal factors as control variables, constructing a linear mixed-effects model. The results indicated that a higher Sense of Control was significantly associated with higher scores in "Positive deactivation" and "Cognitive evaluation" of the STS. These findings suggest that for automated vehicles, where the Sense of Control tends to decrease, system assistance designed to enhance the Sense of Control is crucial for maintaining and improving subjective well-being during travel.
