Wormhole Attack Detection Method Using Location Information and surrounding Nodes in Ad Hoc Networks

(in English) In ad hoc networks,nodes establish multi-hop routes with one another, which makes the network vulnerable to attacks by malicious nodes, including unauthorized route manipulation.Among these attacks, wormhole attacks are known as a major threat . As a detection method against this attack, approaches utilizing information from surrounding nodes have been proposed. However, existing methods make it difficult to detect multiple types of wormhole attacks. Therefore, this paper proposes a wormhole detection method that enables the detection of multiple types of wormhole attacks by combining attack detection based on location information with the verification of location information legitimacy using surrounding nodes. Using the network simulator ns-3, we evaluate detection rate, false positive rate for legitimate links, detection-related control overhead, and route establishment time.
