Magneto-optical diffractive neural network for color image classification

(in English) Optical diffractive neural networks are attracting attention as low-power information processing devices for edge computing. In this paper, we present the results of using a magneto-optical diffractive neural network for color image classification. This network uses the magneto-optical effect to control light. Because it is difficult to process color information using conventional single-wavelength coherent light, we developed a three-wavelength model. In this model, three coherent wavelengths (red, green, and blue) are simultaneously input into the same diffractive layer. In simulations using CIFAR-10, the three-wavelength model achieved a recognition accuracy of 38.6 %. Adding wavelength information expanded the feature extraction capability, demonstrating that MO-DNN can perform color image classification.
