Integral Attack on Lightweight Block Cipher LPHD Using MILP aided Bit-Based Division Property

(in English) LPHD is a lightweight block cipher proposed by Xu et al. in 2024. The basic structure of LPHD is an 8-branch generalized Feistel structure with a block size of 64 bits, a key size of 128 bits, and 25 rounds. To date, no evaluation of resistance against integral attack on LPHD has been conducted by either the designers or third parties. The integral attack is an attack method formalized by Knudsen et al. in 2002, which exploits the property that the XOR sum of a set of intermediate texts becomes zero independent of the key. Todo et al. proposed the Division Property (DP) in 2015 as a method for searching integral characteristics and further extended it to the Bit-Based Division Property (BDP) in 2016, which considers DP at the bit level. Additionally, in 2016, Xiang et al. proposed BDP using Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP). In this study, we searched for integral characteristics of LPHD using Xiang et al.’s method. As a result, we discovered a 10-round integral characteristic. Furthermore, by utilizing this characteristic, we demonstrate that an integral attack on 14-round LPHD is possible with 2^63 chosen plaintexts and 2^124.00 encryption computations.
