A Recording Method for Supporting Dance Choreography Creation and Recall Using Finger Movements and Verbal Annotations

(in English) Dance choreography ideas may be conceived in well-prepared environments such as studios; however, they often arise spontaneously in everyday situations. It is therefore desirable to record such ideas immediately at the moment they occur. However, existing recording methods present several challenges: text-based recording cannot sufficiently preserve nuances that are difficult to verbalize, while video-based recording is constrained by recording environments and required recording time. In this study, we proposed a recording method that combines finger movements representing the body with verbal annotations, including spoken counts and supplementary explanations of movements. Results of a comparative experiment with existing methods confirmed that the proposed method significantly reduced recording time and showed a tendency to achieve higher evaluations in choreography recall.
