(in English) Drug-resistant bacteria are bacteria that have acquired resistance to antimicrobial agents. The issue of drug-resistant bacteria became evident around the 1940s, when the development of antimicrobial drugs began to accelerate, and its impact remains significant today. In this study, we focus on the structure of drug-resistant bacteria and apply a VAE-based anomaly detection method to analyze structural differences between susceptible bacteria and resistant bacteria. A VAE trained only on patch images of susceptible bacteria was used to reconstruct patch images of both resistant and susceptible bacteria. The analysis was conducted from the perspective of reconstruction error, and structural differences between resistant and susceptible bacteria were visualized. As a result, structural differences in the membrane region of drug-resistant bacteria were suggested.
