[Invited Talk] On the Reachability Problem of Petri Nets

(in English) The reachability problem in Petri nets is a central issue in their theoretical analysis, with many other problems reducing to it. While necessary and sufficient conditions were obtained for certain subclasses, no such conditions exist for general Petri nets. On the other hand, positive results regarding the decidability of the reachability problem were obtained in the 1980s. However, the proof is highly technical and difficult to understand. This paper explains the aforementioned necessary and sufficient conditions and attempts to describe the decidability of the reachability problem within the scope of the author's understanding.
