(in English) Manga speaker prediction is the task of identifying the speaker of the dialogue within a speech bubble. Existing speaker prediction methods that utilize Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have revealed a limitation; visual information is not effectively exploited. In this study, we investigate input methods for MLLMs that enable more effective use of visual information in Manga speaker prediction. To this end, we propose two methods: One that modifies the input units of images and dialogue sequences, and another that adds bounding boxes. Evaluation of the each proposed methods through experiments demonstrate that they allow MLLMs to make more effective use of visual information for speaker prediction in Manga.
