The impedance expansion method (IEM) is a circuit modeling technique for electrically very small devices based on the method of moments, and has been applied to indirectly fed wireless power transfer systems. However, when applying the IEM to directly fed self-resonant coils, the slope of the current distribution is discontinuous at the feeding point, which requires a large number of modal currents to approximate the currents of the coils in the conventional eigenmode analysis. Therefore, this paper proposes a method for efficiently approximating the current distribution of directly fed coils and performing their circuit modeling by introducing new modal currents that are zero at the feeding point. |
