[Invited Lecture] Design of a wide-angle scanning circularly polarized folded reflectarray antenna

(in English) This report presents the design of a wide-angle scanning circularly polarized folded reflectarray (CPFRA) antenna by mechanical rotation. To suppress the grating lobes, the transmission and reflection phase distributions of a circular polarization selective surface (CPSS) and a reflectarray (RA) constituting the CPFRA antenna were modified. Numerical analyses show beam-direction compensation by increased reflection angle of the RA and the relation between the aperture efficiency and the antenna height. Full-wave simulation of the CPFRA antenna designed at 18.95 GHz indicates a ±66°beam-scanning range with suppressed grating lobes.
