[Encouragement Talk] Applicability Evaluation of Sidelink V2X Relay Transmission using UAV

(in English) Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communications has been widely studied to realize autonomous driving and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Although V2X based on cellular networks has been investigated, in environments where cellular infrastructure is unavailable, sidelink communications that enables direct vehicle-to-vehicle communications without relying on cellular networks has been considered. However, sidelink communications suffers from performance degradation in environments with poor visibility, such as non-line-of-sight (NLOS) intersections. To address this issue, relay transmission using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has been investigated for such obstructed environments. In this scenario, data are transmitted from a source node to a destination node via a UAV relay node. Although theoretical analyses of various relay schemes have been studied, most existing studies assume ideal propagation environments. In this report, propagation models specified by ITU-R and 3GPP are applied to each link, and the optimal UAV relay position is theoretically analyzed under these realistic channel conditions.
