In this paper, a new frequency-response (FR) error function is derived for designing an allpass phase equalizer. This error function measures the difference between the ideal numerator-FR of the allpass transfer function and the actual numerator-FR. To derive the numerator-FR-error function, we first derive the ideal numerator-FR, and then derive its deviation from the actual one. Taking the resulting numerator-FR-error as the error metric, this paper employs a nonlinear-programming solver to minimize it for designing the minimax-type allpass phase equalizer. An illustrative example is given for validating the usefulness of the error metric. |
