In massive MIMO-OFDM systems, a peak cancellation technique with in-band distortion compensation has been proposed to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). In this approach, in-band distortion-compensation signals are transmitted using a subset of transmit antennas, so that each user can receive distortion-free information signals. However, when the distortion compensation signals are affected by nonlinear distortion in the power amplifier, the distortion compensation performance is significantly degraded. In this paper, to address this problem, we propose an in-band distortion-aware MMSE precoding scheme for the distortion-compensation signals to improve the compensation performance.
The achieved performance of the proposed method is evaluated using computer simulations for cases in which linear and nonlinear precoding (THP) are applied to the information signals. The results show that, compared with the conventional method, the proposed method effectively improves the bit error rate (BER) and the average user rate, and reduces the required number of distortion-compensation antennas. |
