Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Indoor millimeter-wave (mmWave) networks require periodic reconfiguration of base-station (BS) placement and beam directions to cope with blockage-induced quality degradation and temporal variations in user distribution.
This problem is challenging because BS relocation and beam switching are subject to time-coupled operational constraints, such as actuation delay, change lock, and limited reconfiguration budgets, while the controller observes only partial and noisy user information. In addition, the joint action space of BS placement and beam selection is large.
This paper formulates periodic reconfiguration as a partially observable sequential decision-making problem and proposes a two-stage control framework.
The first stage generates feasible local-neighborhood candidates and retains promising ones by surrogate-score-based prescreening, thereby reducing the practical action space.
The second stage performs history-aware value comparison over the retained candidates using a gated recurrent unit (GRU)-based deep Q network (DQN).
Simulation results in a dynamic indoor environment show that, under the evaluated setting, the proposed framework improves both lower-tail and average signal to interference-plus-noise ratio over greedy baselines and a non-GRU DQN, without an excessive increase in cumulative switch cost.
The results also support the effectiveness of combining observation-history utilization with candidate prescreening for periodic mmWave reconfiguration under partial observability.
