[Invited Talk] Various Kinds of Diversity Methods and the Effects of Improving Communication Quality in Satellite Communications Links

(in English) This paper discusses rain attenuation countermeasures implemented by comparing and switching between multiple received signal levels, such as site diversity, satellite diversity, and time-delay diversity, using the Ka-band CS and Ku-band BS radio signals measured at Neyagawa station of Osaka Electro-Communication University (OECU) and the neighboring stations from 1995 to 2012. Also, the improvement effects of various diversity methods on the cumulative time rate of rain attenuation are introduced. In addition, the scope of application of each method and the feature of their operation are explained, with a particular focus on their characteristics and advantages for future use at NTN.
