In realizing wireless communication systems capable of supporting diverse use cases, the utilization of high-frequency bands, where frequency resources are abundant, is indispensable. However, because of the propagation characteristics of radio waves in high-frequency bands, their use in mobile terminals is difficult, and their widespread adoption has not progressed. To address this issue, the authors have been devising and demonstrating a terminal-driven dynamic site-diversity technique that improves communication stability by equipping the terminal side with multiple radio units and adaptively switching among them. This paper describes the issues that became apparent in applying the proposed technology to real environments, particularly through various demonstration experiments, and reports the results of studies on countermeasure technologies and their evaluation through experiments. |
