Detecting slow attacks, which disrupt services with mice flows, requires accurate tracking of both per-flow and cross-flow features, such as flow duration and per-source flow count. To address this in high-speed networks, we design an attack detection platform where a programmable switch filters known threats at high speed and a SmartNIC analyzes unknown threats by tracking these features. This paper designs, implements and evaluates a SmartNIC subsystem. Built on an NVIDIA BlueField-3 NIC, the system is optimized through (1) a multi-core architecture that eliminates shared access by partitioning per- and cross-flow features across cores, (2) a hash table that reduces memory accesses via contiguous memory placement, and (3) a lightweight packet dispatching mechanism leveraging NIC hardware features. Experimental results show that the system can process traffic at 15 million packets per second without packet loss. |
