Fast Autonomous Distributed Spectral Clustering for MANETs with Dynamic Topologies

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), where wireless terminals relay packets to distant terminals, cluster-based hierarchical routing is effective for achieving scalable routing control. Because MANETs do not assume centralized control, autonomous distributed spectral clustering that does not require global network information is needed. Previous studies have investigated autonomous distributed spectral clustering that remains scalable even when node density increases; however, cluster formation with a small number of iterations has not been sufficiently studied.
To apply the method to dynamic environments with changing topologies, operation with fewer iterations is required in terms of computational cost and responsiveness to topology changes. In this paper, we consider a dynamic environment with node mobility and apply accelerated autonomous distributed spectral clustering with a reduced number of iterations. We evaluate the stability of the resulting cluster structures and the controllability of the number of clusters.
Simulation results show that cluster structures can be formed without significantly increasing cluster-size variability even with a small number of iterations, and that, in dynamic environments, reinitializing the state variables after each node movement enables long-term maintenance of control over the number of clusters.
