Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Assume the case where mobile communication is not available due to the unavailability of carrier base stations in the event of a disaster. In this study, we propose a new communication channel using traffic lights in case mobile phones become unavailable due to mobile cellular base stations being down. The traffic lights are connected to other traffic lights via D2D communication using Wi-Fi Halow to provide a line to the mobile phones, and the wired traffic lights in the group are responsible for sending and receiving data on behalf of the phones. The Internet connection of traffic signals is expected to be useful in daily life, for example, for getting the remaining seconds in navigation system. This method provides redundancy in traffic. In this study, we evaluate the performance of the proposed method based on actual traffic light arrangements in a real area.
