In preparation for large-scale disasters that have occurred frequently in recent years, there has been increasing demand for technologies that enable the dissemination of critical information even when communication infrastructure is not functioning properly.
Conventional approaches that do not rely on communication infrastructure include ad hoc networks and DTN (Delay/Disruption Tolerant Networking), which is based on wireless store-carry-forward mechanisms.
However, due to routing overhead and limited communication speed between terminals, it can be difficult to deliver information within the time it remains valuable and to the required coverage area.
To address this issue, our research group has proposed an Information distribution control method that complements DTN by employing mobile nodes equipped with wireless LAN access points as facilitators of information delivery. This approach aims to achieve both high-speed data transmission and efficient information diffusion within a target area.
In this presentation, we introduce our previous research results and discuss future challenges and prospects. |
