The authors are developing an imaging method that utilizes femtosecond optical pulses and a quantum pulse gate (QPG) for the visualization of biological samples. When an optical pulse irradiates a biological sample, it generates both single-scattered (single-reflected) light and multiply-scattered (multiple-reflected) light. The latter acts as background noise, degrading image contrast. To address this issue, we aim to improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) by eliminating the multiply-scattered light using a quantum pulse gate. In this study, to achieve high-precision utilization of the quantum pulse gate, we identify the single-scattered light through the separation of optical pulse propagation directions using wave-number space. |
