Saffron (Crocus sativus L.) is a high-value spice, but its productivity in open-field cultivation is limited due to annual harvesting and damage from rodents. This study investigates optimal lighting conditions for indoor cultivation by comparing growth and bioelectric potential under three conditions: a sunlight-spectrum LED, a general white LED, and darkness.
The number of flowers and plant height were measured, and bioelectric potential was recorded for 48 hours. The sunlight-spectrum LED produced the highest number of flowers (49), exceeding the general white LED (38) and dark condition (10). In contrast, plant height increased under darkness due to etiolation. The bioelectric potential under the sunlight-spectrum LED condition ranged from 0.02 to 0.035 V, showing higher and more stable values than those under the general white LED and dark conditions. |
