In millimeter-wave and sub-millimeter-wave communications, diffraction effects become negligible due to the short wavelength, leading to increased blockage loss and degraded communication quality, particularly in indoor non-line-of-sight (NLOS) environments. In scenarios such as corridor corners and wall obstructions, where blockage frequently occurs, techniques to guide electromagnetic waves beyond obstacles are required. In this paper, we focus on a reflective metasurface for controlling the reflection direction when installed on a wall. The proposed metasurface is designed and fabricated to reflect waves at normal incidence toward horizontal directions (75–90°). Measurement results at 28 GHz demonstrate the intended large-angle reflection characteristics and improvement in received signal strength under NLOS conditions, indicating the effectiveness of the proposed approach for enhancing indoor radio coverage. |
