Explanation of Action Selection in Three-Player Rummy Based on a Social Value Model
Takafumi Sakamoto (Shizuoka Univ.) HCS2026-18 HIP2026-18
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Agents acting on behalf of humans must choose actions while coordinating with others, and must be able to provide understandable explanations for their choices. In this study, we target a three-player cooperative rummy-like card game and build a social-value model that decomposes a player's preference over a card into three components: a self-value, an other-consideration value (care for cards the opponents appear to want), and an information-gap value (exploitation of the divergence between one's own valuation and the valuation the opponents are assumed to infer). Three information conditions S, SO, and SOL are defined according to which components are used. We optimize the parameters of each condition with a co-evolutionary genetic algorithm and compare the cooperative performance of the resulting agent populations. A large language model then generates natural-language explanations of action choices both per turn and after the match. The explanations are evaluated in an event-based manner against objective card-flow indicators (direct relays, reaching the winner's hand, and constituting the winner's meld). The results show that the fraction of well-grounded explanations and the fraction of over-claims change markedly with the combination of the information supplied to the language model and the information condition of the agents.
