Throughput Analysis of Butterfly-Typed Wireless Network Coding with Multi-Level Transmission Scheme

(in English) In wireless multihop networks, schemes using network coding (NC), have been proposed as a method to achieve higher throughput than store-and-forward (SF). In this paper, wireless NC schemes using PAM4 or PAM8 are proposed. For performance evaluation, the throughput performance based on the average packet acquisition time is evaluated in butterfly networks utilizing SF and NC. The results show that, with a direct path length of 40 [m] from the source node to the destination node, NC becomes effective when the average transmission signal energy per bit to noise power spectral density ratio is 100.5 [dB] or higher for PAM4 and 105.2 [dB] or higher for PAM8. Furthermore, the throughputs for PAM4 and PAM8 converge to 2 [bps/Hz] and 3 [bps/Hz], respectively, demonstrating that the maximum throughput can be improved compared to binary modulation.
