In recent years, demand for underwater communication using Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) and Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) has been growing alongside the expansion of human activities in marine environments, including environmental monitoring, ocean resource exploration, and the maintenance of port and subsea infrastructure. Conventional acoustic communication suffers from low data rates, and Underwater Visible Light Communication (UVLC) has attracted attention as a next-generation underwater communication technology capable of high-speed transmission. However, visible light communication has strong directionality and a limited communication range, making the establishment of wide-area multiple access techniques that can accommodate a large number of terminals a key challenge. In this paper, a resource allocation algorithm is applied to a UVLC system combining Space Division Multiple Access (SDMA) using Angle Diversity Transmitters (ADTs) and Angle Diversity Receivers (ADRs) with Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), and coverage probability is analyzed. Simulation results show that under conditions of a communication range radius of 1 m and a single receiver, a maximum guaranteed bit rate of up to 9.2 Mbps was achieved. As the number of receivers increased to two and three, the maximum guaranteed bit rate decreased to 4.6 Mbps and 3.0 Mbps, respectively. A similar degradation was observed when the communication range was extended to a radius of 10 m, indicating a trend of decreasing performance with increasing radius. Furthermore, increasing the number of LEDs and photodetectors (PDs) was confirmed to improve the maximum guaranteed bit rate; however, when multiple receivers were present, the improvement was limited to 0.2–0.4 Mbps. |
