[Poster Presentation] Reinforcement Learning with Domain-Specific Perceptual Reward for Anime Style-Targeted Text-to-Speech Optimization

(in English) Speech synthesis with spoken language models has advanced rapidly, yet style control specialized for particular domains, such as anime voices, remains challenging. Existing reinforcement learning approaches that rely solely on verifiable rewards such as character error rate (CER) have been reported to suffer from prosodic flattening and linguistic drift. Meanwhile, general-purpose Mean Opinion Score (MOS) predictors such as UTMOS capture perceptual naturalness but do not directly model style dimensions like anime-likeness. In this paper, we introduce a perceptual classifier trained on anime-likeness as a reinforcement learning reward, combined with CER as a hard constraint. In addition to training on a Japanese base model, we observe the behavior of the same method when transferred to models of different scales and languages, and verify the distribution shift in the resulting speech outputs through both automatic scoring and human listening tests.
