It is important to preserve content of historical value for future generations in the form of text. Although our laboratory is exploring ways to streamline transcription using speech recognition API, any conventional noise reduction methods have not been effective in improving speech recognition accuracy. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a new noise reduction method that focuses on the fundamental frequencies of historical sound sources. Furthermore, historical sound sources from the Taisho era and earlier has the problem of missing fundamental frequencies due to the frequency bandwidth limitations on the recording systems of that time. Therefore, in this study, we compare various fundamental frequency estimation methods to identify an F0 estimation method suitable for audio signals with missing F0. As a preliminary step before testing on speech signal, we verified whether it is possible to accurately estimate the F0 of three types of instrumental sounds from which the fundamental frequency had been removed in advance. The results confirmed that the proposed method, FreeDAM Lite, is currently the most promising approach. |
