The Orca Predation Algorithm (OPA) is a swarm-intelligence-based metaheuristic optimization method inspired by the hunting behavior of orcas. OPA updates search agents through multiple phases corresponding to driving, encircling, and attacking, thereby iteratively improving candidate solutions in the search space. In this study, we investigate the effects of the number of elite agents $N_{mathrm{elite}}$, the number of randomly selected agents $N_{mathrm{global}}$, and the phase structure on the search performance of OPA. The results suggest that $N_{mathrm{elite}}$ influences the convergence speed and search diversity depending on the structure of the objective function. They also indicate that $N_{mathrm{global}}$ affects the diversity and stability of the search direction in the attacking phase and should be configured according to the characteristics of the objective function. Furthermore, the comparison of phase structures suggests that driving contributes to solution improvement and convergence, whereas encircling may contribute to maintaining search diversity. |
