With the increasing number of smartphones and IoT devices, wireless LAN traffic continues to grow. In particular, in high-density environments where many terminals communicate simultaneously, contention for limited spectrum resources can lead to increased communication delays and throughput degradation. To address these challenges, IEEE 802.11be, adopted in Wi-Fi 7, introduces Multi-Link Operation (MLO), which enables the simultaneous use of multiple links operating on different frequency bands and channels. While MLO is expected to improve communication performance, the increase in simultaneously utilized links also results in greater spectrum resource consumption. Consequently, conventional fixed channel allocation methods cannot adequately adapt to dynamically changing wireless environments in time and space, causing reduced spectrum utilization efficiency due to traffic concentration on specific channels. Therefore, this study proposes a method that utilizes a distributed spectrum management database to share wireless environment information collected by each access point (AP). The proposed method adaptively selects channels for individual MLO links according to changes in the wireless environment and dynamically controls traffic allocation among links. |
