In recent years, as access points (APs) have become denser in wireless local area networks (WLANs), multi-AP coordination has attracted attention for mitigating inter-AP interference.Coordinated beamforming (Co-BF), a type of multi-AP coordination function, mitigates interference between APs and improves throughput by forming beams and nulls toward surrounding stations (STAs). While acquiring channel estimation (CSI) is necessary to form appropriate beams and nulls, CSI feedback overhead increases with AP density.
Conversely, control methods that reduce this overhead lower the instantaneous throughput compared to Co-BF.
To this end, this study proposes a communication control method based on channel correlations among STAs to maximize an actual throughput that considers both instantaneous throughput and overhead. |
