Stacked Intelligent Metasurfaces (SIM) are attracting attention as novel transmitters for next-generation wireless systems. Most existing evaluations rely on ideal channel models that ignore interlayer electromagnetic reflections. However, inevitable multiple interlayer reflections cause resonance, leading to severe performance degradation such as wavefront control breakdown and bandwidth narrowing. To quantitatively evaluate this impact, we propose a novel SIM channel model that incorporates multiple reflections using T-parameters. Evaluation results confirm that our proposed model analyzes characteristic changes induced by interlayer resonance, which conventional full-transmission models fail to capture. Consequently, this study enables quantitative analysis of transmission characteristics involving multiple reflections, overcoming conventional limitations. |
