While the utilization of high-frequency bands, such as millimeter-wave and terahertz bands, is being explored for high-capacity wireless transmission, the transmission of these wireless signals via analog radio-over-fiber (A-RoF) necessitates a higher optical input power than conventional optical fiber transmission to ensure an adequate signal-to-noise ratio. However, under these conditions, concerns arise regarding the impact of nonlinear distortion in the fiber on A-RoF transmission. In this report, we propose two methods to address the issue of nonlinear distortion: digital-signal-processing-based nonlinear distortion compensation and a fiber-nonlinearity-tolerant modulation scheme for A-RoF systems. Numerical simulation and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods. |
