Miniaturization of Wilkinson combiner and filter MMICs using stacked layer type spiral inductors

(in English) In the GaAs even harmonic quadrature mixer MMIC for quantum computer microwave sources that we previously reported, the MMIC became large because it is constructed entirely of passive circuits to add no thermal noise. In this report, we propose a stacked type spiral inductor using two metal layers to miniaturize inductors in GaAs MMICs. Applying this proposed stacked type spiral inductor to the GaAs MMIC increases the inductance per unit area by a factor of 2.0. With the proposed stacked spiral inductor, the area of the Wilkinson power divider used in the GaAs even harmonic quadrature mixer MMIC can be reduced to 84% of its original size with the conventional spiral inductors, the L-band LPF to 70%, and the X-band HPF to 77%.
