Nyquist-Zone-Selective Undersampling Receiver for Multiple Nyquist-Zone Signal Reception

(in English) In this paper, a Nyquist-zone-selective undersampling receiver for multiple Nyquist-zones is proposed. The proposed receiver consists of k parallel reception branches. In each branch, the input signal is undersampled by a sample-and-hold(S/H) circuit driven by clock signals with the same frequency and equally spaced phases. The aliased output of the S/H circuit is digitized, phase-shifted in the digital domain, and then coherently combined. By setting the digital phase shifts according to the aliasing order, components originating from the desired Nyquist zone are aligned in phase, whereas those from other zones become out of phase and are canceled. A prototype with k=4 was implemented using commercially available components and measurement instruments, and the principle was experimentally verified. The measured suppression of undesired Nyquist-zone components ranged from 16.8 to 44.0 dB, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
