We have proposed a method called chaos modulation that simultaneously achieves radio-wave encryption and channel coding at the physical layer, and in previous research, we demonstrated its feasibility through wired and wireless experiments using software-defined radios. However, in our previous experiments, error-correcting codes were not applied, which limited the extent to which transmission quality could be improved. Therefore, in this paper, we report on new results obtained by concatenating error-correcting codes with chaos modulation and verifying them through wired experiments. Using two simple software-defined radios designed for IoT, we transmitted chaos modulation signals concatenated with convolutional codes via a wired link and evaluated the performance at the receiver. The results revealed that, when error-correcting codes were concatenated, it was confirmed that chaos modulation achieved an approximately 1 dB gain over BPSK modulation at the BER of 10^(-5). |
