Improvement of LoRa modulation and its evaluation

(in English) We are conducting research and development on a V/UHF multilink wireless network usable over a wide area. We are also investigating a chirp spread spectrum scheme suitable for long-distance propagation to be implemented in this wireless system platform. This study focuses on the error characteristics of Long Range (LoRa) modulation and clarifies how bit mapping affects the bit error rate. First, LoRa demodulation errors are analyzed as symbol differences, showing that adjacent‑symbol errors dominate under low‑noise conditions. Next, the Hamming‑distance characteristics of random, natural, and gray codes are compared, and the theoretical improvement rate of the bit error rate by gray coding is derived. Furthermore, simulation and hardware evaluation confirm the effectiveness of gray coding.
