In this study, we investigate quad-beam technology as a method for increasing the capacity of underwater wireless optical communication (UWOC) and conduct proof‑of‑concept experiments to validate its feasibility. UWOC systems suffer from degradation of communication quality due to absorption, scattering, and turbulence in water. To mitigate these impairments and achieve high‑capacity, high‑quality transmission, we introduce a beam‑shaping technique that transforms a Gaussian beam into a flat‑top beam. Experimental results show that combining a quad‑beam configuration with flat‑top beam shaping enhances link stability, thereby demonstrating the feasibility of high‑capacity UWOC. |
