In recent years, workers across various fields have been expected to acquire skills—such as software development—to streamline their work processes. The authors focused on computational thinking as one such skill and proposed an assessment test. Previous surveys of employed individuals have shown a tendency for better performance to correlate with greater programming experience, suggesting that ability can be assessed with a certain degree of accuracy. However, it has also been indicated that a lack of familiarity with the test material may lead to unexpected incorrect answers. In this study, we conducted a new experiment using unemployed individuals as participants and employing tests based on multiple types of subject matter. By analysing these results and investigating the characteristics of the subject matter that may influence test responses, we have identified key factors for improving the accuracy of the test. |
