[Invited Talk] Radio-based Environmental Imaging and Spatial Understanding -- Mapping, Optimal Deployment, and Tracking --

(in English) Recently, wireless sensing technologies such as integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) have attracted significant attention as a means of utilizing radio signals not only for communication but also for sensing applications. In this talk, we present a series of studies on environmental imaging and spatial understanding based on the concept of treating radio signals not merely as information carriers, but as observations containing rich spatial information. First, we discuss a mapping method based on signal subspace structures and demonstrate its capability for non-line-of-sight environment estimation. Next, we introduce an intelligent reflecting surface~(IRS) deployment method based on reflection point distributions for designing wireless propagation environments. Finally, we present a drone tracking method using angular spectra for accurate dynamic object localization. Through these studies, we discuss a unified framework for spatial understanding using radio signals and its future prospects.
