Towards In-Network Signal Processing: Multiplierless Filtering in Data-Plane

(in English) In this paper, we propose Signal Processing In Networks~(SPIN), that executes signal processing tasks directly on programmable switches, and present a multiplierless construction method for FIR filter banks. In-network computing has attracted attention for low-latency communication in applications such as IoT and machine learning. INSP leverages this paradigm to realize signal processing systems within the network. Considering the filter bank as a representative system, we implement the method on a programmable switch simulator and confirm improved classification accuracy as preprocessing for in-network machine learning. We further verify conformance to Intel Tofino ASIC constraints at the compiler level, demonstrating real-time processing.
