In recent years, various lens structures have been investigated to improve the efficiency of wireless power transfer (WPT) systems by controlling electromagnetic wave propagation. In this study, a planar lens composed of metallic patches is designed and applied to a radiative WPT system. The proposed lens aims to enhance power transfer efficiency between transmitting and receiving antennas through phase manipulation while maintaining a planar configuration. Electromagnetic simulations are conducted to design the metallic patch lens and to evaluate the effects of lens dimensions and placement conditions on transmission characteristics. Electric-field distributions, phase distributions, and transmission coefficients are analyzed to clarify the electromagnetic focusing effect and the mechanism of efficiency enhancement. The results indicate that the proposed lens improves the coupling characteristics between the transmitting and receiving antennas, demonstrating the potential for improving WPT efficiency. This study provides fundamental insights into the design of planar lenses for high-efficiency radiative wireless power transfer systems. |
