In synthetic aperture radar imaging of the human body, respiratory-induced displacement causes ghost artifacts. Conventional kurtosis-based autofocus techniques prioritize image focusing, often resulting in inaccurate target localization. This study proposes an imaging method that estimates the center position of respiratory displacement by modeling the skin movement as a sinusoidal wave and adopting maximum likelihood estimation based on multiple mechanical scans of a radar system.
In simulations using a point target in simple harmonic motion, the proposed method reduced the mean absolute error by 96.4% compared with the conventional method.
Furthermore, even in the presence of irregular movements simulating physiological micro-motions such as heartbeats, the proposed method reduced the mean absolute error by 92.5%. |
