The DAP protocol authenticates two users simultaneously by classifying synchronized hand-motion data from wear- able sensors as a single motion-based decision. This paper does not simply add heart-rate data to DAP. Instead, it reconstructs DAP-based pair authentication as a three-stage decision framework. It separately verifies heart-rate channel validity, coopera- tion quality between the two users, and consistency with the registered pair template. This paper is an intermediate technical report that evaluates this three-stage decomposition rather than presenting a completed authentication system. Two users wear Apple Watches and perform synchronized DAP gestures while acceleration, angular velocity, magnetic field, and heart-rate are recorded. Stage 1 checks the validity of the heart-rate channel as a limited liveness-support signal that flags missing, all-zero, or physiologically implausible heart-rate inputs. It does not claim to detect skilled imitators, insiders wearing the watch, or replay attacks that contain a plausible heart-rate trace. Stage 2 acts as a cooperation-quality gate that decides whether the two motion streams are sufficiently coordinated to be worth comparing with a registered template. Stage 3 verifies consistency with the registered pair template through distance-based similarity and is the primary stage at which targeted imitation and insider-assisted attacks are evaluated. Experiments involve 30 participants in 15 fixed pairs across genuine, targeted imitation, and insider-assisted sessions. Stage 1 separates valid from invalid heart-rate inputs by rule, Stage 2 reaches an AUC near 0.98 between genuine and mismatched motion streams, and Stage 3 reaches an Equal Error Rate of 11% against deliberate imitators under a leakage-free, pair-independent protocol. The contribution is the decomposition itself, not the heart-rate signal alone. |
